PYRITE ROCKS (LITERALLY!)

i think i have more than one love language, but i would definitely say one of them is gift giving. i love giving my friends gifts because it demonstrates that i really know them and what they like. one of my good friends is coming up on her GOLDEN birthday so i thought i'd make her something with a little glimmer.

thus, i embarked on a journey...
(a glimpse at the knick-knacks i spotted)

this friend i have is very eclectic and i couldn't get her just anything. i wanted to make her something so i headed to a store in south austin called "bead it!" (shout out to michael jackson, amirite?)
this place is adorned in beads, scrabble tiles, vintage ribbons, lockets--you name it, they have it.
(a peak into the wonderful world of bead it!)

i like simple jewelry so i wanted to make something for my friend that wasn't too out there. i knew she loved geodes, so i thought i would incorporate pyrite into her necklace. i also love charms, and i thought this little fortune cookie was cute and would be perfect for her to experience fortune in her golden year. i couldn't pass up on making something for myself, so the top left is my own.
(the top left is mine and the other two are for my friend!)

i highly recommend going to bead it! if you have a free afternoon. if not to get anything, at least for a look-see. the staff are friendly and the beads are plentiful.
